Helsinki, Finland has a welcoming place called Torikortteli (Tori Quarters) which is in the historical place, where the heart of old town meets Helsinki’s buzzing of new city.
“Tori” is a Finnish word for marketplace, and Tori Quarters is very big marketplace indeed.

Tori Quarters is located next to sea and between Senaatintori (Senate Square) and Kauppatori (Market Square), which enables Tori Quarters to be conductive place to old and new, but also to locals and travelers, east and west and to city administration and the local citizens.
The buildings of Tori Quarters, which are quite historical, have been used by administration offices for over 40 years, and now they are being renovated. This opens up new spaces for new businesses.

The renovate is taking time, so The Tori Quarters project produces events and rents out empty spaces to interesting pop up events and acts until the year 2017, when the renovation will be finished. Till that, Tori Quarters are the setting place for new urban culture.
